Il-14 Crate
After World War II, the Ilyushin Il-14 played a similar role in the USSR and the Warsaw Pact countries as the DC-3 played in the West. The type was used to develop a modern air transport network. Over 3,600 Il-14 have been built.
In addition to the standard version, a slightly stretched Il-14M was also offered. Besides aircraft produced by Sovjet factories, the Il-14 was also produced in Czechoslovakia and Eastern Germany. Czech built Il-14 were designated Avia Il-14, while the aircraft built in the German Democratic Republic were referred to as VEB Il-14M.
Today, the Il-14 has almost completely disappeared from commercial use, but thanks to the efforts of various veteran and aircraft restoration groups in Russia, a number of them has been preserved in airworthy condition or is now undergoing restoration.
